- What dangers did the African-American people in the community face because of their color? Be specific.
- What might it feel like to be the victim of hatred? Step inside the victims shoes and try to express what that would be like.
- At the end of Chapter 2 the narrator states, “Papa always meant what he said-and he swung a mean switch.” What are two things you can infer from this quote? One inference about Papa and one inference about his children should be written.

Remember to continue to work on the Independent Novel packet. You will need to record in your reading log and write down vocabulary words you are unfamiliar with and then define them.
